“It’s a disgrace, what’s happening in this country,” President Trump said on Tuesday. “But other than that I wish everyone a very merry Christmas.”
President Trump told reports on Christmas Day that the federal government will remain closed until Congress comes through with funding for the border wall. For the fourth straight day, around 25 percent of the government remains shut down due to the impasse with Congress over the President’s demand for $5 billion in wall construction money.
In a tweet posted last Friday, Trump promised that if the wall is not funded, a shutdown could last “a very long time.”
“The Democrats, whose votes we need in the Senate, will probably vote against Border Security and the Wall even though they know it is DESPERATELY NEEDED,” Trump warned. “If the Dems vote no, there will be a shutdown that will last for a very long time. People don’t want Open Borders and Crime!”
