What he means is there only One God ,but we humans ascribe different attributes to God depending on the religion,which I believe also.And in previous centuries and other religions God is an angry,vengeful God.,who punished those who don’ t bend to his will. And each make up their own belief about what Gods’ will is.And then the fighting starts.

Pope Francis that is false not all religions worship the same God. Most of the Gods you are thinking about are call deities meaning false Gods. Allah and Jesus Christ father are not the same. Allah allows laws that lets his people rape kill etc in his name. No one commits a crime in the name of Jesus Christ or in the name of God.
