The ousting of conservative Cardinal Muller is a blow to the Church and a good example of Francis’ taking control over the Vatican’s agenda. The Catholic Church is losing its members, and they are very wary of this new guy’s positions on Church teachings. It’d be a good thing for Catholics to get this guy out before the Church becomes something no longer recognizable. There is mumbling, of course, about his ouster, but the only two grounds I found for the excommunication of a Pope are apostasy (the renunciation of a religion) and heresy, though I did not do deep research. I’ve also read about Pope Benedict’s resignation and certain theories, but the Ecclesiastical terminology and reasoning is too above my IQ level to garner a complete understanding.
