Elect Obama a 3rd Term? Not according to the polling.

Last Tuesday lame duck president Obama bragged on the world stage that he’s been a “pretty good president” and that he believed he could win a third term. In comments made during a widely broadcast speech “to the People of Africa” in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Obama claimed he could win again.

The president’s third term boast garnered national and international media attention The news people fawned all over the claim. However, the polling data offers differing opinions

A Rasmussen Reports poll released on Friday queried Americans if they would vote for an Obama third term. The results showed he a mere thirty percent support.

While Obama retains a level of reelect support from Black voters, at 69 %, he only gets 39% support from other minorities and 22% from whites.

“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 30% of Likely U.S. Voters say they would vote for the president if he ran for a third term. Sixty-three percent (63%) would not.

“Most Democrats (57%) would vote to give Obama a third term. Ninety-three percent (93%) of Republicans, 68% of voters not affiliated with either major party – and 32% of Democrats – would not.

“The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 28-29, 2015 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.” The full poll is found here.

There is more than one meaning to the words “Yes We Can.” This time it reflects the election of someone new.
