Did Planned Parenthood Break The Law In Selling Baby Parts? Dems and the Media Rush to Their Defense

What this means is the law prohibits the purchase or sale of fetal tissue for an amount of money that would exceed the seller’s cost of transporting, processing, implanting, monitoring, implanting and storage.

That’s a lot of exceptions! If someone wanted to pad those expenses I’m sure it could be done quite easily.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal has launched an investigation, until we know more facts we really can’t say if Planned Parenthood broke the law or not.

But is that really the question? How ethical are these practices? To the mainstream media and the Democrats, that really isn’t a consideration.

The mainstream media is certainly coming rushing to support the abortion factory that is Planned Parenthood:

The Washington Post went with the Orwellian headline, “Undercover video shows Planned Parenthood official discussing fetal organs used for research.” Aside from missing the entire point of the story – the specific attempts to crush a baby’s skull to preserve its liver for research, the money exchanging hands – the headline is clearly spot on. The opening line is even riper with delightful nuance:

An antiabortion group on Tuesday released an undercover video of an official at Planned Parenthood discussing in graphic detail how to abort a fetus to preserve its organs for medical research — as well as the costs associated with sharing that tissue with scientists.

Then there’s Cosmopolitan, a publication organized on the principle that there are 1,876,431 mindblowing ways to please your man (and, by the way, abortion is freedom!). Their headline: “That Planned Parenthood Video Isn’t The Scandal Abortion Opponents Are Making It Out to Be.”

Columnist Robin Marty explains, “It’s mostly a matter of clever wording, unsubstantiated allegations, and a reliance on the fact that most people find medical practices kind of gross.” Well, those things, and the fact that Planned Parenthood’s top doctor admitted on tape to killing babies in a manner specifically designed to preserve organs for sale.

Reuters went with this charming headline: “Planned Parenthood slams secret video as false portrayal of fetus tissue program.” Their opener:

Planned Parenthood said on Tuesday a secretly recorded video that surfaced on the Internet falsely portrayed the reproductive health group’s participation in the sale of tissue and body parts from aborted fetuses. The non-profit organization said the video had been heavily edited and recorded by a group that was established to damage its reputation.

If Planned Parenthood says so, it must be so! The Associated Press played the same angle: “Anti-abortion group release video showing Planned Parenthood official discussing disposition of fetal remains.” That sounds like a rather dull story, until you realize it’s the same story as the one about a Planned Parenthood official talking about beheading babies in the womb to preserve their livers for sale. This is no surprise from the Associated Press, which also wrote about pro-lifers yesterday:

Calling their opponents Satan worshippers and savages, anti-abortion lawmakers on Wednesday insisted that Republican contenders keep an intense focus on social issues in the upcoming midterm elections and the 2016 presidential race.

And, of course, Democrats were quick to support Planned Parenthood:

Multiple Democratic lawmakers on Wednesday dismissed a secretly recorded viral video that shows a Planned Parenthood executive detailing how the livers, lungs and hearts of fetuses are preserved during abortions for medical research.

“It’s got a Benghazi feel to it, for me,” centrist Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.) said.

“They’ve been attacking Planned Parenthood for years,” said Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), another prominent abortion rights supporter. “They’ve been calling for investigations for years.”

A Benghazi feel? Amazing that there is great potential here for criminality, yet calling for an investigation is somehow out of line.

Democrats have said there’s no evidence that the group is violating federal laws from her remarks, though none of them told The Hill they had seen the video.

“Planned Parenthood is actually allowed, is my understanding, for scientific research, to use fetal tissue, and that is not illegal,” said Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), a member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus who said she had spoken to Planned Parenthood leadership.

When asked about Republicans’ planned investigations into Planned Parenthood, Schakowsky said she wanted an investigation into the Center for Medical Progress, which she called “a phony company.”

With no investigation, they are already striking out against the group that helped bring this to light and justifying Planned Parenthood’s actions, again with no investigation.

Other Dems issued a more tepid response:

Some Democrats, like Rep. Diana DeGette (Colo.), the co-chairwoman of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, have been cautious in their response to the video.

In a statement to The Hill, she expressed support for Planned Parenthood, though it fell far short of a sweeping defense.

“Planned Parenthood has spoken clearly on the specific circumstances surrounding this video, and I will let their experts explain for themselves. Circumstances of this video aside, people need to understand the important research that specific tissue types contribute to,” she wrote in a statement.

Ah, good ol’ Democrats who defends the actions of leftist groups by suggesting that we let ‘the fox guard the hen house’.
