After running a series of exercises over the summer, the Pentagon has come out stating that the United States is in no way ready for a war with Russia.
“Could we probably beat the Russians today [in a sustained battle]? Sure, but it would take everything we had,” one defense official said. “What we are saying is that we are not as ready as we want to be.”
Many in the military believe that our lack of readiness comes from 15 years we’ve been engaged in the war on terror. There is surely some truth to this, but we can’t ignore what President Obama has done to the military.

I will not answer any call to join in a war against Russia. One thing we also need to worry about is due to Russia’s history they are very distrustful of outsiders because of the fact that they have been invaded too many times. Due to the large distances involved in an overland west to east movement on Moscow, it is not too much of a vulnerability, but the region between the Black and Caspian Seas are a major strategic vulnerability for the Russians, the only geographic vulnerability they have. Weapons, force placements, and incited wars on those borders in the south will always draw Russian countermeasures. We have to worry about the perspective of the Russians with respect to escalation of the conflict. We know the Russians do not want war, and the aggressor is the United States and also the EU because of the sale of energy gives Russia a major control over EU currency, and the power to control industrial output. Europe also has a dog in this fight, it loses if Russia becomes too powerful or even too wealthy with control over energy supplies to Europe. A major sign that we have to worry is how they have been maneuvering an alliance with Turkey of all countries. Russia has a long and violent history and distrust for the Turks, and this feels like a last resort to sure up its front on the Dardanelles. That is also why they are so concerned with Greece. Control of both sides of the Dardanelles gives them control over the entrance to the Black Sea. Things are going to get very interesting.
