Pakistani Cleric: Women Wearing Jeans Are Cause Of Earthquakes, Inflation, Calls For Military Action

According to Siasat Daily, Pakistani cleric Fazlur Rehman has called upon Pakistani armed forces to launch a national military operation against women wearing jeans:

“The immodesty of women is the cause behind earthquakes, inflation and other kinds of disasters,” he said in Islamabad, according to Siasat Daily. “In fact, a woman who is not covered like a ‘sack of flour’ is a mobile weapon of mass destruction,” he further added. He also blamed “immodest women” for the deteriorating security situation in Pakistan, lack of energy supply and the Balochistan crises.

Declaring women in jeans as “real enemies” of Pakistan, he asked government and armed forces to openly declare war against Pakistani women. “Pakistan’s sovereignty and the security of the citizens are at stake. And when that’s the case the only logical approach of the state should be to launch a military operation,” he told the Khabaristan Times.

He also condemned the military operations against Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (Pakistani Taliban), saying that the militant outfit would not be staging attacks if Islamic law (Sharia) is applied and women were not allowed outside of their homes, according to the New Indian Express.

“The Taliban are our brothers and their angst against the state is justified. As brother Ansar Abbasi has so eloquently put in the past: TTP’s suicide bombings are just Allah’s wrath upon us. And so there is a need to earmark and eliminate the real enemy of Pakistan: every woman who wears jeans,” he said.
