With ‘Open Season’ On Law Enforcement, Many Are Afraid To Go To Work

Seven police officers have been lost in the past seven days, including one that was gunned down Monday morning in pursuit of three suspects. In all of this loss of life, the president has once come out to condemn it.

Lewis said, “You bet it’s open season on law enforcement across this country. American law enforcement right now are under siege. We recognize it. We see it everywhere we go. And you can rest assured, as you well know, this all started on the false lie, this premise, down in Ferguson, Missouri, ‘Hands up, don’t shoot,’ Black Lives Matter, all based on a lie. We all know it’s a lie. Law enforcement across this country are under siege. We know we’re under siege. Everybody’s scared to death to do their job, scared to pull the trigger.

More and more these days, this new civil right movement feels less like a fight for equality and more like an excuse to fight. In the wake of the Michael Brown case and the ones that followed, police officers have learned the consequences of pulling that trigger. So you can bet, if one of them has their gun aimed a suspect, they have a pretty good reason for it.
