The Democrats just never get tired of trying to promote gun control to gun owners and failing miserably. Of course, this is because many of them simply can’t relate to them, as was made painfully apparent this weekend.
Speaking at the NBC/Youtube Democratic debate on Sunday, former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley defended his position on gun control by touting his relationship with gun owners. Attempting to defend his anti-Second Amendment record, O’Malley claimed that he’s, “never met a self-respecting deer hunter that needed an AR-15 to down a deer.”
Setting aside the unlikelihood of his claim that he regularly fraternizes with gun owners and deer hunters, O’Malley’s statement is stupefying. Yes, maybe deer hunters don’t need AR-15’s to shoot deer, but have you considered the possibility that maybe, just maybe, they need them to defend themselves?
To be fair, O’Malley, with his well-trained security escorts, probably doesn’t understand why anybody would need an AR-15 to protect themselves and their family. It should, however, keep him from opening his mouth on topics that he has little understanding of.

I wish he would run upon some wild hogs and have no where to run.then we will talk.
Hey sum$#%&!@*2nd amendment is to take down a corrupt government not a deer
Me and my 30:06 at 250 yards and you’ve got a problem..not so much with my AR..just more accurate with deer rifle. But its two different guns for a reason
How Would Know A Deer Hunter, From One Of Your Chosen Statesmen Or Local Poachers?
You’re right, 30-06 is a lot more deadly, if it had a 30 round magazine it would be a holy terror.
Mr O’Malley I’ve never met a self respecting deer hunter that needed a rifle to take down a deer. As I am an Archer I think deer hunting should be limited to Bows and Arrows. Now Mr O’Malley my however. Allow me to quote, 2nd amendment. A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep an bear arms shall not be infringed. No where in the 2nd amendment is the wording hunting even mentioned. Secondly our Founders intended the people to have the final say on their rights, not some politician so the Second amendment is worded so that every able bodied man and women is responsible to defend this nation against all enemies both foreign and domestic. It is the state whose responsibility to convict people who use weapons in the commission of a crime. Not to merely slap their hands and turn them lose. The problem with far too many Democrats is they have a self righteous attitude when it comes the rights of the people. You want the peoples weapons, yet you wish to have armed security for you and your family. You want the people not criticize you with what we disagree with you on. Rather than having a debate on these issues, you immediately resort to name calling and insults, when all else fails you call us racist. You wish to silence all opposition in the press, you only want the press to print what you want printed, never mind the facts. You want the courts stuffed with liberal judges who agree with you, never mind the wishes of the people. Mr O’Malley our Founders entrusted the people with this nation, if they thought we were not up to the task our Constitution would have began with We the Politicians, instead of We the People. For far too long a small group of elites have thought they had a monopoly on what rights the people should and should not have. This was not the nation that was founded in 1787 This is the nation that people like yourself think we should have today, sorry but I must strongly disagree with you.
