The F16 is an older design and will not compete head to head with the current crop of fighters. That being said, it is cheaper to operate, faster to turn around after a sortie, fast enough to get anywhere it would be sent quickly and paid for including a huge supply of extra parts. It is stupid to retire it or sell it at pennies on the dollar. But that is the kind of deal Obama likes to make..STUPID.
