All one has to do is mention Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico and the arguments and insults fly. Why would a nation have laws governing immigration and then sabotage the efforts of those charged with enforcing those laws by failing to create structures supporting the efforts of those immigration officers.
As strange as that might seem, the issue of border walls just took a very interesting turn.
Amid talk of Donald Trump’s plans to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico, Mexico itself has an invisible wall along its southern border with Central America as migrants head north.
Wait. Mexico objects to a wall between Mexico and the United States on its northern border, but wants a wall on its southern border? Correct. Mexico can’t have those Guatemalans coming into their country.
The [Financial] Times claims the U.S. is sending Mexico $75 million in the form of equipment and training to help shore up its southern border. Ultimately, some of the Central American migrants wind up at America’s southern doorstep. Stopping them from entering Mexico is the first line of defense.
This is almost too precious to be true. Obama does little to nothing to prevent illegals from entering the U.S. from Mexico, but is willing to send $75 million to Mexico to help prevent immigrants from Gautemala entering Mexico.
If you ever needed more evidence to demonstrate that the Obama administration and its left-wing allies want an open border with Mexico for political reasons, this is it. As we’ve stated before, Obama’s failure to enforce immigration laws is driven by the desire to pour potential voters for Democrat candidates into selected states.
The president of Mexico has been an outspoken critic of Trump’s proposed wall. It would be very interesting to see him pressed on the reason why he’s opposed to his country having a border wall with the U.S., but is very happy to take U.S. money to build his own border wall with Guatemala.
