Obama Lectures UK for wanting to leave European Union

The European Union is in trouble.  The more financially responsible states in the EU have been propping up liberal, overspending governments for years.  Those governments refuse to make financial changes and abide by austerity measures, as witnessed in Spain and Italy.  Portugal has just elected a radical, socialist government that actively encourages rebellion against any type of austerity measures.  Poorly-vetted immigrants and refugees are flooding the continent, and over the last several months, Belgium and France have suffered major terrorist attacks.

For all of these reasons (and more), Britain is strongly considering getting the heck out of Dodge.  This week, President Obama penned an op-ed in the British newspaper, The Telegraph, to lecture the country on why they should remain in the failing union.  Breitbart covered the op-ed and some of the less-than-enthusiastic reaction.

U.S. President Barack Obama has penned an opinion column in Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper outlining why he believes Britain should remain in the European Union (EU). The core of his arguments are: that Britain’s voice would be lost without Brussels bureaucrats; his failing deal with the largest state sponsor of terrorism; the pro-mass-privatisation TTIP deal; and the fact that dead American servicemen are buried in Europe.

One might argue that he has failed to read the room.

Just as President Obama parodied himself in his multitude of snubs to Britain during his tenure, he has, probably unknowingly, lampooned himself again – which hasn’t gone unnoticed by staff at the Telegraph themselves, when tweeting out his column tonight.

President Obama begins by talking up the United Nations and NATO: institutions that are increasingly being called into question not just in Britain, but across Europe and further afield.

It is not surprising to see President Obama lecturing an ally, encouraging them to give up their sovereignty.  It is clear by his policies in relation to his own country that he finds sovereignty to be a novelty of little importance.
