Obama Knew About North Korea Miniaturized Nukes, But Deliberately Concealed It

What the Post failed to include in its story this week is that the DIA made its conclusion in 2013. So for the last three years of Barack Obama’s presidency, the administration knew the North Koreans had developed miniaturized nuclear warheads, but failed to do anything about it.

What that reveals is a dereliction of duty so reckless, and even treasonous, that it’s truly shocking.

The news briefly came to light in April 2013, but was hastily covered up by the Obama administration. In an April 11, 2013, hearing of the House Armed Service Committee, Republican Congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado inadvertently disclosed that the DIA with “moderate confidence” had concluded the North Koreans had a nuclear warhead small enough to be launched on a ballistic missile.

The Director of National Intelligence and Obama officials subsequently tried to dismiss Lamborn’s disclosure by claiming the DIA assessment was an outlier that did not reflect the views of the rest of the U.S. Intelligence Community.”

At the time, James Clapper was serving as Director of National Intelligence, a post in which he distinguished himself as an unscrupulous liar for the Obama administration.

The 2013 DIA report on North Korea was an inconvenient contradiction to the Obama policy of “strategic patience” with North Korea. That policy, in essence, was to look the other way while the Kim Jong-un regime kept up its urgent push to become a full-fledged nuclear power. It was classic “kick the can down the road.”

What’s fascinating Washington observers is the fact that the Trump administration didn’t comment on the story being a “leak.” In fact, it helps support President Trump’s tougher posture toward North Korea, which leads some to believe the Trump team provided the story to the Post.

Some see the story was a way to support the recently-passed United Nations tighter sanctions on North Korea.

If so, this is a good strategy to highlight to Beijing the urgency that it abide by these sanctions and also implement other kinds of diplomatic and economic pressure against North Korea that it has so far refused to employ.

The unanimous approval of the sanctions by the U.N. Security Council represents an unanticipated diplomatic success for President Trump, who may prove more adept at foreign policy than many pundits thought possible.

Americans need to recognize as they ponder the increasingly dangerous North Korea situation that the Obama administration not only refused to do anything about this crisis but tried to downplay and conceal intelligence from the American people and Congress on how serious it was.”

President Obama left President Trump a very bad hand to play when it comes to North Korea. But he underestimated the ability of his successor to outmaneuver his opponents and gain the upper hand.

All we have to remember is how Donald Trump never had a chance to gain the Republican presidential nomination and certainly never win the presidency. At no time in history have so many experts been proven not only wrong, but just plain out of touch with Americans.
