Obama To Issue Executive Order For More Gun Control

Gun Show Statistics Mistated

Handgun Control, Inc. (HCI) is an organization closely tied to the administration. As with many Democrats, it cites phony statistics to support efforts to take guns away from American citizens. It does not matter that the statistics and claims are blatantly false, because it is the ends that are important.

So, for example, HCI decries gun show “loop holes”, claiming that 25 – 50 percent of vendors at most gun shows are unlicensed dealers. Sales by licensed dealers at gun shows require background checks, in the same manner they are required at a retail store. But if half the dealers at gun shows are unlicensed, then half the guns sales at shows are conducted without background checks.

Sounds bad, doesn’t it?

Denver Democratic congresswoman Diana DeGette says that 70 percent of guns used in crimes come from gun shows. That sounds doubly bad, and these lies are repeated over and over again, by President Obama, by Democratic congress members, and by the complicit mainstream media that certainly should be able to research the actual statistics if they actually want to know the truth.

In fact, the National Institute of Justice, the research arm of the U.S. Department of Justice released a report in December of 1997 that indicated only 2 percent of criminal guns come from gun shows. That’s not a minor error, it is a monumental and outrageous fabrication! But Obama seems determined to attack a problem that does not exist, and to ignore real ones that do, so he repeats the lie and works to disarm the public.

White House officials have been trying to draft an executive order that would reinterpret existing law to require all or most gun sales to go through the background check system.

Requiring background checks for all weapons sales might not have had any effect on Wednesday’s shootings in San Bernardino in which at least 14 people were killed. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has determined that Syed Rizwan Farook, one of the two shooters, legally purchased two of the weapons at a gun shop in Corona. Two others were legally purchased and given to him by a friend, federal officials said Thursday.

In most other mass shootings in recent years, the perpetrators also purchased their weapons legally through licensed firearms dealers.

It really doesn’t sound like more extensive background checks will fix the problem of violent death in America, but the administration continues to suggest that too many guns are obtained too easily. And Obama’s answer, for anyone willing to look into the future, is confiscation of all guns from the public.

But, when we consider the one thing that might have prevented the carnage in San Bernardino, it would have been to have some of the attendees “packing heat,” with proper training and a willingness to respond to the killers with lawfully obtained firepower. That seems to be too difficult for Obama to comprehend, and so he continues to seek ways to eliminate the right of citizens to bear arms to protect themselves.
