Obama: “You Get the Politicians You Deserve”

As Mr. Obama starts his new career of making speeches, he’s certain to want to lash out at President Trump. Watching his legacy get taken apart and destroyed must be a miserable experience for him, and not being able to do anything effective about it can only make things worse.

Obama was delivering a speech at the Seeds and Chips Global Food Innovation Summit followed by a question and answer session with Sam Krass, the former White House chef and nutrition adviser under Obama.

During his speech, the former president took time to discuss democracy and seemed to take a dig at the current president.

“People have a tendency to blame politicians when things don’t work, but as I always tell people, you get the politicians you deserve,” Obama said to applause.

Obama then knocked those who did not vote.

“And if you don’t vote and you don’t pay attention, then you’ll get policies that don’t reflect your interest,” he added.

We know exactly what Mr. Obama meant by those statements, and there’s one thing we can conclude for sure: Mr. Obama thinks very poorly of the U.S. electorate, and he is of the opinion that the election of President Trump is proof that the majority of Americans are a bunch of jerks who deserve a lousy president.

That’s not the most polite way of putting it, but no doubt Mr. Obama’s thoughts regarding President Trump are even less polite.

He certainly does not wish the country well, and it indicates what a small person he is by denigrating the very nation that twice elected him to its top office.

While it’s good to see his legacy dismantled, one could also wish that the memory of his presidency could also disappear. Since that’s not possible, we’ll have to settle for the next best thing — using it as a warning against his type of individual who might run for president in the future.
