The lower pay increase translates to a Pay Grade E-4 (Corporal, Petty Officer 3d Class, Specialist 4, Senior Airman) with less than three years in service will earn less than $3.00 an hour. Under the 2016 pay scale, a Pay Grade E-1 undergoing recruit training will be paid roughly $2.15 an hour.

not sure who actually writes these things but a military recruiter would probably note that besides the basic pay, a active duty military member receives housing and food allowances. Full family medical and a laundry list of benefits too long for a facebook page. An E4 (pretty low rank) probably makes 40k plus a year. There is a reason you see so many nice cars on military bases.
