Obama Announces He Will Enact Back-Door Gun Control

Obama Seeking Back-Door Confiscation of Weapons

The reality is that the American people are clearly not interested in more gun legislation. In fact, as they have seen more criminal gun violence in places like Chicago and Washington D.C. along with attacks worldwide by Muslim extremists who have promised wholesale slaughter of innocents wherever they can accomplish it, American citizens have realized that they cannot depend on law enforcement to protect them. Response time to bad actors must be in seconds, not minutes, and so places like Texas have enacted “open carry” laws where citizens can openly carry weapons to let criminals and terrorists know that they will not have unarmed and defenseless victims to slaughter, but citizens willing to fight and respond. Still, Obama tries to sell his plan with questionable anecdotes which no one ever sees to verify:

In Obama’s weekly radio address, released a day earlier than usual, the president said he was moving unilaterally because Congress had failed to address the growing problem of gun violence.

“A few months ago, I directed my team at the White House to look into any new actions I can take to help reduce gun violence,” he said. “And on Monday, I’ll meet with our attorney general, Loretta Lynch, to discuss our options.

“Because I get too many letters from parents, and teachers, and kids to sit around and do nothing,” Obama continued. “I get letters from responsible gun owners who grieve with us every time these tragedies happen; who share my belief that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to bear arms; and who share my belief we can protect that right while keeping an irresponsible, dangerous few from inflicting harm on a massive scale.”

Obama has still not made the case for why his new executive order would do anything to curb gun violence or keep criminals from getting guns. And that is why the American public is so dubious of his plan, because all of his proposals are designed to make it harder for ordinary citizens to obtain guns. Suspicions are also high that these regulations are actually the first steps to the end goal of total confiscation. Obama has been absolutely uninterested in meeting with groups like the NRA or congressmen who oppose gun control to discuss what can actually be done about violence or terrorism. If he truly wants to address the problem, why is he unwilling to listen to input from all sides?

In reviewing its options, the administration has shut out congressional Republicans, who joined with some Democrats in helping block legislation to expand background checks after the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

“The administration has not communicated with us, and we have not been briefed,” Doug Andres, a spokesman for House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.), said in an email. “We will consider options once we have information, but what seems apparent is none of these ideas would have prevented the recent atrocities. Our focus should be on the consistent causes of these acts — mental illnesses and terrorism — rather than infringing on law-abiding Americans’ constitutional rights.”

Catherine Frazier, a spokeswoman for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.), said that “President Obama is trying to distract Americans from his failure to address the true threat of radical Islamic terrorism, and instead going after the rights of law-abiding American citizens — it is complete lunacy. If Ted Cruz is elected president, the lawlessness will end on Day One, and Americans’ personal liberties will be restored and protected.”

What is clear is that Obama will certainly circumvent Congress and impose new rules in the next few weeks, and that they will have little or nothing to do with the violence the nation is experiencing now. That is completely in opposition to a recent WashingtonPost/ABC News poll in which 47 percent of those polled said the better reaction to terrorism was to encourage more people to carry guns, while 42 percent said they preferred stricter gun laws. Given the strong anti-gun bias promoted by the main stream media, it is likely that the proportion of polled supporters for more guns is actually much higher.

Obama is a political animal, and his policies and decision are generally driven by political ambition and agenda. He almost always favors expanding Federal power and control, and creating division among the people so that he can control and overwhelm his opposition. He has shown great disdain for both the people of the United States and their elected representatives, and as president has been absolutely uninterested in precedent or the legal limitations of presidential power. He is the classic bully, and he has pulled it off in most cases. His determination to ignore the Second Amendment, the will of the people, and the responsibility of Congress rather than the president to make the laws of the land will once again be on exhibit with his new executive orders. November 2017 cannot come soon enough.
