Did you know that there is a “1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act?” Probably not, but then when one considers the volume of legislation created just at the federal level — legislation that remains in force, the normal reaction would be one of astonishment, of being utterly overwhelmed, of one’s eyes just glazing over. No wonder congressmen and senators have no idea what they’re voting on much of the time.
Anyway, apparently we have a crisis of excess horses and burrows running wild in western states. Enter the Bureau of Land Management and a dispute they have with the Humane Society of the United States.
Here’s the crisis in a nutshell for your consideration.

THEY NEED TO LEAVE THE HORSES ALONE , TAKE OUT ALL THE TRASH IN ADMIN.
All of the red tape, rules, regulations,etc around adopting these animals is RIDICULOUS. And then there is the level of care and habitat that must be maintained for these animals. It’s that of top thoroughbred farms. The average farmer or horse lover can not remotely afford to adopt them. The gov’t is losing (wasting) money on them anyway, so cut all of it. Make adoptions free and first come first serve. Many farmers would love a few donkeys to protect their herds. Many horse lovers salivate at having a wild mustang. Animals go to caring homes, gov’t doesn’t waste money to move, house, etc. Problem SOLVED.
