The New York Times, in its never-ending search for relevance in an increasingly anti-Regressive country, employs some very talented writers with little more than a college-inspired view of the world. These authors of commentary that are splashed across their pages in bold adjectives and uplifting messages of what the world would be like if only those evil and oppressive White people would just sit at the back of the bus and shut up from now on, what a lovely world this would be!
What they have failed to do over and over is what I do whenever I read one of their far-Left opinions: Step back from the subject matter and look for the truth in the message.
What is the truth in Frank Bruni’s message? That despite their oh-so-high-and-mighty attitude about how Trump supporters and everyday Americans are uneducated, toothless, slack-jawed know-nothings who are racist White supremacists and will not be able to sustain this highly “offensive” offensive forever…and despite ALL indications (and the endless Leftist poll citations) that show time and again that Democrats are the supreme leaders of virtue and good and ice cream and lollipops…they are not predicting an outright rout of the GOP in the upcoming midterms.
Why, with all the political and socioeconomic scales seemingly weighted in their favor, are they not so certain of victory?
You guessed it! Republicans cheat, lie and steal elections through “gerrymandering” and illegal redistricting (I might add Russian collusion as well). Yes, of course! How stupid of me to have fallen for the idea, the belief, that perhaps…just maybe…it had something to do with grown men in dresses in the bathrooms with our little girls, or attempts to impeach our president without a crime (yes, I’m talking to you, Misrepresentative Al Green), or to continue to allow the illegal human and drug trafficking into this country from Central and South America, or to take the side of a North Korean leader intent on starting World War III, or telling Americans that they are racist IF they are White, but only if they are White…
I really did think that some of those reasons (and there are OH so much more) were what has actually been responsible for the Democrats being in a historically unprecedented position of a near super-minority!
I reiterate: super-minority.
Let me clear. I do not labor under the delusion or misconception that the numbers in the House are close, or that they’re even closer in the Senate. I get that. But looking at trends (and before this last election, that’s all the Left did was look at trends) there doesn’t appear to be any momentum behind the current array of Leftist causes they’ve lined up behind and that’s where the super-minority has its roots.
They lost the House in 2010 (“Oh, well, we expected that…whenever you have a president of one party, the midterms are always severe for that party!”). They lost the Senate in 2012 (“It isn’t our message, it’s that the GOP has been unfairly weighting these elections through the redistricting process that has been disenfranchising (i.e., blocking minorities from voting) voters!”). They have been losing governorships in a trending across the country where even Blue Jackass states are appointing Republican governors (“This means nothing to the overall federal government because they don’t get to write laws on the federal legislation level!”). They lost the edge on the Supreme Court (“Yes, but Obamacare is still the Law of the Land! Ha!”). They lost nearly 2.5K state and local seats nationwide (“Well, that’s just the pendulum swinging the other way! We’ll bounce back! IT’S NOT OUR MESSAGE!”).
You see where this is going. To ignore the obvious that’s right in front of their faces, that it IS their message, is like ignoring the fact that MSNBC and CNN have become The Onion of cable news networks.
The midterm elections are at once a golden opportunity and a dangerous trap for Democrats. Their hopes — stoked last week by a series of humiliations for the Trump administration, including Tom Price’s resignation and Alabama Republicans’ nomination of a Senate candidate who’s a fossil from the 1950s — could exceed their haul, for reasons I’ll explain shortly.
So, here’s a prime example of the unique ability of Leftist writers and opinion-makers to remain completely tone-deaf to what is really going on in the camp on the Right. Let me set this up: Mitch McConnell REALLY wants Luther Strange in again because it will shore up the endangered and very unhealthy Washington Swamp RINO population inside the Beltway. He implores a very strongly popular Donald Trump to stump for him. Trump capitulates…BUT only if McConnell makes a greater effort to pass the Unaffordable Care Act Repeal. McConnell doesn’t have any intention of doing so, but promises anyway.
Trump goes out and does his thing on behalf of the endangered Swamp RINO and…the wounded animal loses. The Left then comes to the very unwise decision that this is a “humiliation” for Trump because his voters aren’t mind-numbed robots who vote for the person that a politician tells them to and opted to vote for someone Trump didn’t endorse.
Let’s be perfectly clear: Trump didn’t endorse Roy Moore because he was asked to endorse Strange in exchange for the repeal legislation. He still AGREES with Moore’s stance, politically, but he was parleying on behalf of the American people and their languishing under a severely harmful piece of Democrat law that killed the insurance industry and shortchanged the hospitals, doctors and nurses. By the way, it did nothing to hurt pharmaceuticals.
The American people saw right through this very transparent attempt by McConnell to save one of his RINO buddies at the Golden Watering Hole in DC. And they voted their conscience. They are not yocul idiots, Mr. Bruni. You wonder why America disagrees with your Jackass Party as you then call the newly elected Moore a “fossil from the 1950s!”
I’m sorry…since when did the notion of hard work, patriotism, and faith mean that you followed an old-fashioned, out-of-date ideology? Oh, right. Since the Party of the Jackass began deriding employment, not standing for the National Anthem, and Christianity and/or Judaism, and began praising welfare as a way to “spend more time at home with the family,” burning the American flag, and removing every reference to God on every government (and even non-government) building.
And they wonder why they keep losing. Well, I’ve got some news, Mr. Bruni…you just keep on believing this and doing what you’re doing with the whole identity politics thing and we’ll continue to just keep enjoying the super-majority.
P.S. You can identify as anything you want. In my book, Americans don’t need to “identify” as anything because that’s not what gives us value or makes us people.

The Democratic Party is corrupt and criminal
I just hope that they will lose with a sense of humor?
