North Korea Claims It Has A Hydrogen Bomb

The communist tyrant seemed to have little hesitation about making this major advance in his country’s arsenal, announcing the news at a historic site that honors his father Kim Jong-Il and his grandfather Kim Il-Sung, themselves autocratic rulers of the tiny nation. Kim’s revelation will undoubtedly worry the rest of the world, particularly South Korea, which maintains an American troop presence to defend itself against the North to this day.

Even as the mere possibility of such a breakthrough in North Korea’s nuclear capabilities threatens the stability of the region, some are casting doubt on the Dear Leader’s, as he forces his subjects to refer to him, proclamation. A number of analysts have doubted that the Stalinist dictatorship lacks even the ability to make a hydrogen bomb, although it has produced other nuclear weapons in the past. Free Beacon reports:

“A hydrogen bomb is significantly more powerful than an atomic bomb.

A spokesperson for South Korea’s Defense Ministry said that its military had no intelligence to back up the claim.

‘We are closely monitoring and tracking any and all of North Korea’s nuclear activities. So far, we have not noticed any unusual movements or activities,’ the spokesperson stated.

China, an ally to North Korea, would not say whether it believed the claim to be credible.

‘The situation on the Korean peninsula is very delicate, complex and fragile. We hope all concerned will make effort that contributes to peace and stability,’ a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.

An expert on North Korea working at China’s Central Party School expressed doubt that the country has the ability to develop a hydrogen bomb.”

I don’t know about these “experts,” but when it comes to North Korea and nuclear weapons, better safe than sorry if you ask me.
