President Trump was speaking to a crowd at a rally for Alabama Senate candidate, Luther Strange (R) the other day when he began talking about football, this state being a huge advocate of the sport.
Trump’s comments about the sport seem to have opened wounds in the NFL that they had hoped would be left closed. As many on the Right are aware, the Left has been crusading for the end of American sport completely for more than a decade now. Its anti-NFL rhetoric has gotten to be so venomous that the invective has infected even sports-philia giant ESPN, a network that in every broadcast rallies its viewers to sneer and deride the sport of American football. So, it’s no secret that the Left despises football, particularly because it is an American institution (you won’t hear Leftists rallying against soccer or rugby).
That being said, Trump opened his mouth for some opinions on the latest year-long controversies over “taking the knee” in sports in protest to the so-called “poor treatment of people of color.” He also talked about how the referees were destroying the sport. These comments were predictably met with an expression of disgust and displeasure so that The Hill could get another scoop and stir up yet another Fakery Mill scandal surrounding the current White House.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fired back at President Trump on Saturday for encouraging league owners to remove players who take a knee during the national anthem, saying Trump’s “divisive comments” show “an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL.”
“The NFL and our players are at our best when we help create a sense of unity in our country and our culture,” Goodell said in a statement. “There is no better example than the amazing response from our clubs and players to the terrible natural disasters we’ve experienced over the last month.”
“Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.”
So, Goodell wants us to believe that President Trump making comments at a political rally are going to somehow manage to damage the sport of football and the country simultaneously, BUT the Leftists hammering the sport of American football every single day, for years on end by now, is just fine and dandy.
ESPN can fire analysts for suggesting that the NFL officials are turning into pansies because of the hard-hitting rule, but when Trump says that we should respect the flag of our country…well, then, that’s just unacceptable and disrespectful!
“When people like yourselves turn on television and you see those people taking the knee when they are playing our great national anthem – the only thing you could do better is if you see it, even if it’s one player, leave the stadium,” Trump said. “I guarantee things will stop.”
Trump also said NFL owners should fire players if they refuse to stand during the national anthem.
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a b—- off the field right now,'” he continued, adding, “‘He is fired.'”
The comments came during a broader critique of the league’s actions, during which he also accused NFL referees of “ruining the game” by penalizing players who “hit too hard.”
“Today, if you hit too hard … 15 yards, throw him out of the game,” Trump said. “They are ruining the game, right?”
And he’s absolutely right. These people moaning and complaining about the brutality of the sport of American football are the EXACT SAME CROWD who rallied years ago against boxing. What happened there with all the bitching and whining about the brutality of boxing? The purses rose, the audience increased, the sport morphed with another kick-boxing, mixed-style sport of boxing, and the largest ticket sales of any match…ever…just occurred with the Mayweather-McGregor fight!
American football, however, is on the outs…if it continues to kiss the Jackass’ you-know-what. They are facilitating their own quick demise in the next ten years if they continue down this road of appeasement and ignorance at the impending, looming doom on the horizon. The Left is on the warpath (and yes, I did use a word normally associated with Native Americans!) for blood in American football and they will get it by any means necessary, even if it takes destroying the sport through the very mechanism of its own popularity…ESPN.
The Washington Examiner, in a bid to embarrass the president, chose to tweet a quote from the rally, but all it really achieved was to reinforce the belief by a majority of the American people that the only reason that ESPN has lost subscribers and why American football attendance is dramatically down is directly linked to “taking the knee” and disrespecting America.

Commish when it first started and the fans reacted… Long before the president said a word ,that’s when if you weren’t spineless you would have enforced the nfl rules….
