Nearly Half of NH GOP Primary Voters were not Republicans

The Republican Race witnessed its first blowout on Tuesday, as Donald Trump collected twice the amount of votes as second place finisher John Kasich.

That’s only half the story, however, as the amount of the vote that came from Independents and Democrats are staggering.

The exit polls are final for the 2016 Republican presidential primary.

Under New Hampshire election rule, independents and even Democrats can vote in the Republican primary.

Newsmax analyzed the data and here is some key takeaways:

Only 55 percent of Republican primary voters identified themselves as “Republican,” 42 percent declaring they were “independents,” and 3 percent saying they were “Democrats.”

New Hampshire open primary rules may be a glimpse of what a general election could look like for Trump. If so, his prospects my be better than current polling data suggests.
