NBC News Crew Threatened with Arrest For Filming An Empty Prison

The cottage sits on the grounds of a closed prison, which was inadvertently being filmed. This drew the ire of officials who told them to leave the mountain immediately, threatening to seize their footage and denying them access to film on a historic site, an obvious violation of the rights of the press.

When Mulholland stated he was filming a historic piece, but the ‘corrections officer’ in a paranoid accusation stated, “No you’re not, you’re here for other purposes.”

Why would there be such hostility, paranoia and violation of the first amendment’s Freedom of Press over an empty prison?
