Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Better start building those desalination plants you idiots!!! Wth are you waiting for? Instead of giving your $$ to kooky candidates to make life hell for all of us with your goofball thinking, invest in your future. You people in Cali. are so dumb!
Holly, I think what is frustrating to many is that so much environmental legislation originates from the state of California’s elected officials. It’s like bad Karma for them since they are a “green” state and this drought is happening. Almost like punishment for stuffing unnecessary regulations down the throats of the rest of the country.
Those idiots should have built desalinization plants that would have took care of the problem before it was a problem
If they would have stuck with JFK ‘s idea about watering;; their would b NO dought !!!!
They get what they wanted.
Running out of water but they have plenty of drivers license to hand out to illegals like candy….half a million in 3-4 months. I’m sure they are all about the environment though.
I get the water drought. It’s a bad deal. But for those who want to sat where do you get your food from. We do you get your beef, chicken and pork from. Those illegals gathering that food could go back to Mexico and then lazy $#%&!@*s living off welfare could take those jobs. Kill two problems at once. Now for the water you have an ocean. With all the technology we have you should be able to use it. It’s not the rest of the country’s fault your a ‘green’ state.
They need to step up building their desalination plants so they can use sea water. Then they can pump that into these place to try and fill them back up again.
The bigger disaster would be if those Californians decided to spread out around the country and bring their disastrous ideas with them. California did nothing over the past 50 years to prepare for a drought such as build water storage. The state also “saved” worthless little fish by releasing water to their habitat rather than saving it for crops and human. The state made its bed and now is laying in it.
How about wells? They seem to provide water, idiots. Moonbeam is a fool!
