Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Let’s let a few more hundred thousand people come here from other country’s in.
Bull$#%&!@*. People are so gullible
In Nevada we have a saying; “we really don’t care how you do it in California”
Ya, that’s funny Barry. But having spent a couple years in Las Vegas, I guarantee you that Nevada is not exactly the authority on how to manage water resources. The problem extends from Colorado to California, and everywhere in between. Arizona, NM, Utah, even Mexico have outgrown our archaic water rights laws and distribution systems. And, as you note, we have a s**t-ton of people. The silver state is every bit as doomed as the Golden State… NV water is basically California water, Truckee, Carson, Walker Rivers, et al. Minor exception of local groundwater basins, which are basically mining historic (>12,000 year old) water. I recall standing at a well head in LV in 1987 while in grad school that was 15 feet above ground surface… standing tall like a straw. That was due to basin-wide subsidence. Don’t get too big on the california hating.
You do realize that the entire planet is over populated right
I’m from the oil field and if this were an actual crisis how is it we can pump a million barrels down hole 10 miles from a hundred miles away but can’t get water to Cali?
the have the entire Pacific Ocean to the left. Have they never heard of desalinization?
Consequences – every action has them…mexifornia isn’t going to be the only state that experiences a shortage of resources because illegal aliens sponge them all up…
