Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Wait, there’s a water shortage in the desert?
How is population growth and climate issues a political issue? You guys aren’t even trying anymore. Come back to earth, we miss you.
Seriously, this might be the most dim witted thing I’ve read all week. 7 likes! Yay! Bouncey ball!
They had full reservoirs but the environmental fruitcakes made them drain them all. Now, they are out. Life in the PRC.
They should have been building desalination plants long ago.
Now they have to play catch-up.
Colm Connell, it is a political issue, that’s what you are not understanding..the goofy liberals and environmentalist are too worried about a fish (delta smelt) and not getting water down to the southern parts…that is what is creating this issue.. Look it up… Typical liberalism… Such a joke…
Only morons in California would not have a plan for a drought.
Just raise taxes and add a bunch of regulations.
Their major problem is their liberalism.
