Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

No back up plan?? What freakin idiots, the world is 3/4 water and they are right on the coast. Start Desalinating the water. Nuclear plants desalinate tons of water per minute!!!!!!! .. This is a Political stunt, DO NOT fall for this f**e shortage!!!!!!!
The free market could readily ease this issue. Let water companies increase charges on water consumption and people will ration their own use. Oh, and correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t California on the coast?
Well no one cares that nestle is draining all the water not to mention that we are selling china alot of water from the great lakes so i blame the corp. S$#%&!@* of our nation not the earth and its changing weather
Simple… Deport all illegals and abolish foodstamps and welfare…. that will save trillions of gallons of water… then with the saved money build desalination plants along the coast…
Water means one thing for politicians – fines and more tax money for their covers. Answer? If the political will is there – desalination plants up and down the coast. Money? Stop the bullet train. We don’t need it. Water – yes!
Because why? Republicans won’t tax? Oh wait that’s right they do too.
Wait no they would just say there is no shortage or changing weather….and go on with their day.
Well deserved….who cares screw them…..have you seen LA…..$#%&!@* hole.
Wont work…..at that point water is a commodity and the water there doing desalination on will cost a fortune.
Oh well! That is what they get for being communists!
