Jay Familglietti, NASA’s top water scientist, recently warned that California has only a year’s supply of water left in storage facilities and the backup groundwater is rapidly depleting. Despite this harrowing fact, California has no backup plan to address this crisis.
“California has no contingency plan for a persistent drought like this one (let alone a 20-plus-year mega-drought), except, apparently, staying in emergency mode and praying for rain,” stated Familglietti. “In short, we have no paddle to navigate this crisis.”
UPDATE: California Gov. Jerry Brown issues ineffectual, mandatory water restriction as one-third of our nation’s crops are threatened. See Page 3 for updates.

Might want to rethink water policy as to the Delta Smelt. That’d be a good start.
They will build Oil Pipe lines, but not water irrigation … ?
Well Mr president how’s those delta smelt taste probably kinda like dog turn the pumps back on you idiot do something right for a change that you promised us
Can’t fix Stupid
Sounds like it is time to build some desailenization plants and create fresh water instead of sitting on their thumbs. There is plenty of water available for that in California.
For at least the last 50 years SOCAL backup plan has been water belonging to Colorado and Utah .
Too little, too late Governor Brown, you have know about this problem for years and chose not to do anything. To start with all lot better water distribution would have helped, one that was not politically motivated.
Tell California to stop fracking and maybe they could save 20mill gallons of water they waste a day!
Maybe all the illegals will move back to Mexico
(For the rest of us) Each grow your own food. Fight local enforcement that says you can’t self sustain. Ask yourself why your fellow man would restrain you from self sustenance.
