Nancy Pelosi: “In My District They Call Me A Corporate Pawn”

While addressing the stunning defeat of Rep. Joe Crowley’s (D-NY) at the hands of democratic socialist candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dismissed the notion that democratic socialism is on the rise.

“It’s ascendent in that district perhaps,” she said of New York’s 14th congressional district. “But I don’t accept any characterization of our party presented by the Republicans. So let me reject that right now. Our party is a big tent, our districts are very different, one from the other.”

Then came Pelosi’s hilarious admission.

“It’s about representation,” she said. “Each of our members is elected to be the independent representative of their district. Their job description and their job title are one in the same: representative. So, nobody’s district is representative of somebody else’s district.”

“It’s just a sign of the vitality of our party, we are not a rubber stamp,” said Pelosi.  “The beauty is in the mix.”

“I don’t accept any characterization about our party presented by the Republicans, so let me reject that right now,” she added. “Our party is a big tent. Our districts are very different one from the other. As I said, I am viewed and they spend tens of millions of dollars characterizing, or characterizing me, as this left-wing person where in my district they call me a corporate pawn because my district is so progressive. So, it isn’t about that.”

Ah, Nancy. You will certainly be missed by the GOP far more than by the Democrats.
