Mysterious Lights in Miami and Los Angeles Cause Social Media Firestorm

In early November of 2015, Los Angeles airspace had its flight patterns altered due to  “secret military operations, the airspace over the pacific is closed to incoming flights for the next week”

The entire operation is shrouded in mystery with airport officials claiming that even they are in the dark over exactly what is planned and why its usual airspace is off-limits.

The military will also not saying what exactly is causing the change.

Once again, Los Angeles and other large cities had an interruption in airspace as a bright light streaked across the sky.  Numerous videos were posted to social media, creating much excitement and speculation.

Witnesses said the ball of fire in the sky lasted about 30 seconds.

The National Weather Service told Weathercaster Jackie Johnson, who also witnessed the lights, that the incident was not weather-related.

Meanwhile, Vandenberg Air Force Base also told CBS Los Angeles they did not have a launch Wednesday night.

As of 11 p.m., there was no official word on what caused the mysterious lights, though the annual delta aquarids meteor showers were peaking.

Las Vegas, Nevada, and residents of Utah reported also seeing the brilliant light.

The west coast was not the only place in the United States that had these mysterious evening lights, as Miami also reported a unique nighttime light show.

South Floridians who were outside early Wednesday morning may have seen a strange light streaking across the sky and wondered “what the heck is that?”

CBS4 viewers from the Palm Beaches to the Keys snapped pictures of the white light with what looked like a twin billowing smoke plumes behind it.

A UFO? A comet? A strange visitor from another planet?

Nope to all of the above. It was a rocket.

The United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket blasted off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station just before dawn. On board was a U.S. Navy communications satellite.

“Built by Lockheed Martin, this U.S. military spacecraft will provide narrowband tactical communications designed to significantly improve ground communications for U.S. forces on the move,” according to SpaceFlightNow.com.
