Missouri: Suspicious Figure, Bulk Cell-Phone Purchases, Explosives Found

A picture that showed up online has a community is rural Missouri on edge.

The picture shows a man walking in the woods near rural Fredericktown.

There wouldn’t be anything too unusual about it, but it has some people concerned. In light of recent cell phone purchases in the area that are being investigated by the FBI as suspicious, they are jumping to conclusions.

Many people are talking about it because they don’t know who the man is.

“I didn’t know who the guy was, but I didn’t think anything too bad, I thought it just a guy on the side of the highway,” John Wooldridge said.

Wooldridge said he believes he had an encounter with the man caught on this trail camera outside of Fredericktown.

“I was just leaving the house and seen a man cross the highway, so I kind of watched him because I figured he was an hitchhiker,” he said.

That’s when Wooldridge said the man ran across the highway and into the woods headed towards his house. Wooldridge said he went to go figure out why

“He came out of the woods, screaming arms wailing, making a fist just screaming,” he said.

While this picture very well end up being nothing, the real story here may be how quickly, and how easily ISIS has citizens in every corner of our country spooked. If their goal is to fill American hearts with fear, they’ve surely done their job.

Meanwhile a short distance away in Waynesville, MO explosives were found

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) _ Pulaski County authorities say a deer hunter found a cache of explosives along a trail in the Mark Twain National Forest.

Sheriff Ron Long says in a news release the hunter found the explosives Saturday on a jeep trail where he normally camps and called 911.

A bomb disposal unit from Fort Leonard Wood responded to the scene along with sheriff’s deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers.

Long says the explosives were detonated at the site because they were too volatile to move. A small fire after the detonation was extinguished without further damage.

Police described the explosives as something that could not be bought for recreational use.
