Military Veteran Biker Group Steps In When Squatters Steal Soldier’s Home

Army Spc. Michael Sharkey was ordered to serve in Hawaii for two years, so he left his Florida home with a friend, with an agreement that if repairs were done and the home kept up, the friend could live there for free.  Upon returning, he found squatters had moved in, trashed the house, and changed the locks.  These squatters said they were friends with the original “friend” who had the verbal agreement with Sharkey.  Sharkey maintains they are liars.

The police could not lawfully remove the squatters immediately, they would have to be evicted lawfully.  The eviction process can take up to 60 days.  It seems difficult to understand, and Sharkey after serving our country had become virtually homeless.

This story has a happy ending, thanks to a local Veterans biker group, who intervened.
