Only 26 states have passed legislation over the past few decades making Female Genital Mutilation a felony. Michigan became the last state on Tuesday to pass such legislation when Governor Snyder signed 13 bills into law saying,
“Those who commit these horrendous crimes should be held accountable for their actions, and these bills stiffen the penalties for offenders while providing additional support to victims,” Snyder said. “This legislation is an important step toward eliminating this despicable practice in Michigan while empowering victims to find healing and justice.”
Under the main bill, female genital mutilation would be considered a felony in Michigan, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. That’s a harsher penalty than the 1996 federal genital mutilation law, which includes a sentence of up to five years in prison.
These bills were swiftly passed after the case involving two Muslim-Indian doctors and one of their wives mutilating up to 100 girls at a clinic in Livonia Michigan in April.
Their lawyer, Mary Chartier argued that FGM ought to be religiously protected right and that the practice was little more than a little Allah approved “scraping of the genital membranes”.
And some might think that the last sentence sounds a little crude – deal with it. This is the reality we are living in and I don’t care if it makes you uncomfortable to hear that there are religious fanatics living in our country who believe something that appalling.
I’ll say it again. The Prophet Muhammad didn’t get his sadistic kicks enough from just marrying a 6-year-old girl – he also saw to it that Allah conveniently told him it was okay to mutilate her genitals as well as rape her.
If you actually read the Qur’an, the Hadiths and other Islamic teachings, which I have, in the original Arabic, you will see the truth for yourself It is a lie that the religion that starts with an I and has 5 letters is a religion of peace.

Why is it obligatory? Because Muhammad is held to have said so: “Abu al- Malih ibn Usama’s father relates that the Prophet said: ‘Circumcision is a law for men and a preservation of honour for women.’” — Ahmad Ibn Hanbal 5:75”
Look up if your state is tough on FGM and if not pressure your lawmakers to take action. Let it be known that nobody can get reelected in your district unless they PROOF they will be tough on fighting religious extremism and the abuse of women. You’d think bringing people together to advocate for the health and safety of young girls wouldn’t be too polarizing of a topic, right?! But, it is. Many courts are starting to let migrants and Muslims get off the hook for committing atrocious crimes such as wife beating and throwing babies out windows because of a so called lack of “cultural competency”.
However, if we could band together to elect Trump, we can band together to give these little girls justice!
Lawmakers in Michigan are setting an excellent example as to how all the other states should be going about partnering with the Department of Justice to fight female genital mutilation.
The other bills signed into law permanently revoke the medical licenses of any medical practitioner who is convicted of carrying out such a practice and increase the statute of limitations to 10 years, so victims have more time to seek damages in civil lawsuits.
