Michelle Obama: “We’re feeling what not having hope feels like”

Agreeing to be interviewed by Oprah offered Mrs. Obama a very friendly venue to discuss her husband’s presidency.  Recall that Oprah was a big supporter of Mr. Obama’s campaigns for president.

One topic that came up during the interview was Mr. Obama’s expressed desire to bring back hope to America.

President Barack Obama’s administration achieved the platform he ran for president on: hope, according to first lady Michelle Obama, who implied that many Americans no longer have that hope as President-elect Donald Trump transitions into the White House.

“We feel the difference now. See, now, we’re feeling what not having hope feels like, you know,” the first lady told Oprah Winfrey in an interview excerpt broadcast Friday on “CBS This Morning.”

Clearly, Mrs. Obama believed that Americans experienced hope during her husband’s presidency, something that she believes is now fleeting with Mr. Trump about to arrive in the White House. While the hope liberals have of an ever expanding, powerful and intrusive federal government have been dashed, those who wish for a rebirth of liberty and government restraint are experiencing great hope as Trump replaces Obama.

For many of us, the only hope we experienced during the Obama years was the hope that the nation would survive until his administration came to an end.

Mr. Trump believes that America’s greatness was allowed to slip away during the Obama administration, so it comes as no surprise that Michelle finds it necessary to attack Trump.

In so doing, what we have next from Mrs. Obama is typical, leftist gobbledygook:

The president, the first lady continued, has been someone who would respond by saying: “You know what? Babe, it’s OK, it’s OK.”

“I feel that way about the nation. I feel that Barack has been that for the nation in ways that people will come to appreciate,” she said. “Having a grownup in the White House who can say to you in times of crisis and turmoil: ‘Hey, it’s gonna be OK. Let’s remember the good things that we have. Let’s look at the future. Let’s look at all the things that we’re building.’…”

Telling people experiencing “crisis and turmoil” that things are going to be okay is useless without a real plan for solving or at least ameliorating the suffering people are experiencing.  Just saying nice words with out a plan to deal with the problem just doesn’t cut it, no matter how sincere Michelle alleges her husband to be.

There is now much reason for hope, and even rejoicing.  Mr. Obama and his failed policies will be discussed in the past-tense.  The Hillary Clinton Junta has been dispatched to the trash bin of history. US companies are announcing their intentions to remain in the US.  And Mr. Trump is making many fine choices in cabinet and administration appointees.

Mr. and Mrs. Obama really need to knock off the “hope” routine.  Unlike most all of their supporters, they have the solid hope that for the rest of their lives they will be able to live in luxury and with outstanding security and health benefits.  All courtesy of the country they denigrated to both domestic and foreign audiences for eight years.

Go into retirement, Mr. Obama, and try to find something positive to put in your memoirs.  That project should keep you busy for decades.
