Mega Church Pastor Joel Osteen Under Fire for Reluctance to Open Church Doors to Hurricane Victims

Joel Osteen is under fire for taking so long to express a willingness to allow Hurricane Harvey victims to take shelter in Lakewood Church

And it very well may be that Lakewood Church just got new seat cushions and they were afraid of wasting church members money by giving wet homeless people a place to sit down.

Let's give Joel Osteen a fair opportunity to explain himself, and his actions, or the lack thereof.

He did offer these words of comfort up as the winds, and flood waters started to ravage the streets of Houston.

Maybe Osteen just thinks that people don't have to work when God answers prayer. That is very similar to the “prosperity gospel” he preaches in his church.

But, people don't really seem ready yet to let Osteen off the hook for failing to open up his church doors to people in need. This has created a real PR nightmare for Osteen and multi-million dollar church and book brand.

This PR crisis has forced Osteen to come out and make a statement, backtracking on ALL his earlier claims about God being enough to make all of this Hurricane victim business go away. His statement, the new official position of opening Church doors and more, all on the next page.
