McCain: Trump Has ‘Disrespected the Law’ in Pardoning Arpaio

When news broke that President Trump had pardoned former Maricopa County sheriff Joe Arpaio for a recent conviction in federal court for contempt of court, liberal heads everywhere exploded. As did John McCain’s.

Of course, most of these same folks didn’t seem the least bit moved when President Barack Obama pardoned convicted Puerto Rican terrorist, murderer and bomber Oscar Lopez-Rivera.

At 10:55 p.m. last night, McCain took to Twitter to tweet out his anger about the Arapaio pardon:

POTUS’s pardon of Joe Arpaio, who illegally profiled Latinos, undermines his claim for the respect of the rule of law.”

Another day, another chance for McCain to shoot off his mouth besmirching Donald Trump. In addition, McCain was never a fan of Sheriff Arpaio, as would be expected for a member of the Senate “Gang of Eight” that pushed an amnesty bill on immigration reform.

Certainly one of the factors motivating the Arpaio pardon was the age of the Arizona sheriff. Sentencing an 85-year old man to prison after his 50-year career protecting the public made no sense whatsoever.

Arpaio’s prosecution was an Obama Justice Department witch hunt meant to punish him for simply doing his job and to play to the sanctuary city mob.
