Marco Roboto Short-Circuits at NH Debate, Repeats Same Scripted Line Four Times

Marco Rubio’s biggest strength has been the fluidity and the confidence with which he speaks, but if this week’s New Hampshire debate is any indication, he totally lacks the ability to stray from his intended message.

Four times over the course of the debate Marco Rubio repeated the following line nearly verbatim.

Let’s dispel this notion that Barack Obama doesn’t know what he’s doing. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He is trying to change this country.

Repetition of common themes and phrases by Marco Rubio are nothing new, of course, and he’s done it since, even after being widely panned for his robotic performance this week. Just days after, he told a New Hampshire crowd this:

“We are taking our message to families who are struggling to raise their children in the 21st century, because as you saw, Janette and I are raising our children in the 21st century. And we know how hard it has become to instill our values in our kids instead of the values they try to ram down our throats,” Rubio said at the rally.

“In the 21st century, it has become harder than ever to instill in your children the values they teach in our homes and in our church, instead of the values they try to ram down our throats in the movies, in music and popular culture.”

What made this debate different was that, for the first time in the campaign, someone challenged Marco face-to-face to walk away from the talking points and speak directly to the American people. He failed.
