Kristol BFF McMaster Still Employs A LOT of Obama Loyalists on NSC

The National Security Council (NSC) was created in 1946 by President Truman as a precursor to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Created by George W. Bush in the wake of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the 43rd president was mimicking what Truman had done 55 years earlier, in essence, forcing all the intelligence agencies in the government to begin sharing information and coordinating their intelligence.

In 2009, Barack Hussein Obama merged the DHS and the NSC to form the National Security Staff (NSS), but later rescinded the name.

Within the NSC alone, there are over 250 staffers who work within the confines of the rules for that Council.  Of those 250, a full 40 of them are Obama loyalists, many of which are most likely the source of the torrent of leaks that have been occurring over the past year.

After the firing of three Conservative-minded NSC workers, one of them had the audacity to out the Establishment and the intelligence community.  Richard Higgins had written a sort of memo that he had possibly planned on publishing anonymously.  However, before he could, it was discovered by a co-worker and reported to his superior, Deputy, Major General Rick Waddell.

As H.R. McMaster still heads that Council, it has become more evident that something wrong is going on and that the Advisor of the NSC may be suspect.

Several Obama holdovers who led initiatives at odds with President Donald Trump’s foreign policy remain on the staff of National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group has learned.

About 40 of the National Security Council’s (NSC) 250 officials — nearly one in six — are Obama administration holdovers, according to TheDCNF’s analysis. The holdovers include NSC directors for Korea, China, Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Eastern Europe, Israel-Palestine, South America, North Africa and sub-Sahara Africa. Holdovers also advise on weapons of mass destruction, counterterrorism, non-proliferation, arms control, defense policy, immigration, and homeland preparedness.

It’s been common practice in previous administrations to retain holdovers from an outgoing administration, and nearly all are on loan from other federal agencies. But current and former administration officials tell TheDCNF they are concerned that so many Obama era holdovers are still working at NSC eight months into the Trump administration.

“The problem is the allegiance they have to their former administration and their position and stances on national security,” said Col. James Waurishuk (Ret.), a 30-year veteran senior intelligence official and a former NSC official. “It’s crazy when they represent pretty much 180 degrees of what Trump is trying to do.”

Some blame McMaster for the holdovers. “He has protected and coddled them,” alleged one former NSC staffer who requested anonymity.

In an interview with TheDCNF, Anton called all the holdovers “stalwarts” who faithfully follow the president’s foreign and military policies.

The following are some of the names of Obama holdovers who absolutely have an ax to grind, if not only for the purpose of protecting the Obama Legacy.

  1. Allison Hooker:  Architect of Obama’s Korean Policy and a huge proponent of “diplomatic solutions over any other approach.”
  2. Fernando Cutz:  Director for South America and a big believer in Obama’s Cuba policy.  He is also a graduate of the Clinton School of Public Service (yes, Bill Clinton).
  3. Andrea Hall: Senior Director for weapons of mass destruction, terrorism and threat reduction. If you’re looking for a Democrat link to Russia, you can start right here. Hall’s dedication to Vladimir Putin is documented.
  4. Rear Admiral David Kriete: Director for strategic capabilities policy and responsible for policy on nuclear weapons-related issues and whole-heartedly agrees with Obama’s idea of a nuclear-free world.  (If only all our enemies agreed).
  5. Jennifer Smith:  Director of Pakistan and weapons of mass destruction.
  6. Jessica Cox:  Director for arms control who worked on a MoveOn.org petition against the impeachment of Bill Clinton that garnered more than a million signatures.  She “specializes” in fundraising and grassroots organizations.
  7. Stephani Morrisson:  Domestic Emergency Preparedness and staunch Climate Change advocate.
  8. Heather King:  Domestic Emergency Preparedness and also a staunch Climate Change advocate.

Since the NSC is a part of the Executive Branch, it is perfectly within his rights and abilities to 86 these people and start with a fresh, new staff.  Whether or not he’ll do so, is another matter entirely.  My first reaction would be to restore Richard Higgins, Ezra Cohen-Watnick and Derek Harvey immediately (with back pay) and designate both McMaster and Waddell beneath them in the chain of command.

Let them stew a little and perhaps learn humility.  After all, that looks good on a person…and Lord knows these guys could use the makeover.
