Caving in to outcries that they represent the South’s racist past, Greg Fenves, the president of the University of Texas in Austin, announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from the campus’s Main Mall and moved to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was moved as well to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

Yasmine Smrekar , I don’t blame you as much as I blame the school system that failed you. Thousands of people did not fight in the civil war to keep slaves, There were not even that many slave owners. So why did those that could not afford slaves fight? They fought against tariffs and what they felt were northern and government aggression. The mayor of New York wanted to leave the Union so that he could keep money that flowed into the ports by the south and Europe that were forced to go through said ports while limiting ports in the South from exporting their goods. I could go on about how Lincoln felt about slaves or why if so many people of that time cared so much why it took a Civil rights movement almost 100 years later to gain anything close to equality. You can continue to show your ignorance or play parrot and spout out a rewritten version of history if you want. I would recommend you actually study and learn the facts of history.
