Caving in to outcries that they represent the South’s racist past, Greg Fenves, the president of the University of Texas in Austin, announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from the campus’s Main Mall and moved to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was moved as well to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

Since when can statues be racist? If they want to split hairs about it, I am NOT happy about that GHASTLY stautue of Martin Luther King, and would LOVE to see it removed! I suppose that’s racist? How about the fool Chinese that carved it? They made it look more like Mao Tse Tung than MLK!

The are being removed not destroyed. Its democracy live it, love it, or hate it. What’s funny is that no one cares about the statue and what they represent until they are taken down. If it causes hate and discontent, it should be taken down.
Let’s just take all statues down and only put up statues of Pink Unicorns. Then the blacks may not be offended. The blacks fail to realize the first person thought to be a slave owner in the new world was a black man, their own people sold some of them into slavery, and blacks owned slaves. I get so tired of how they are oppressed. Get off your butt and do something. There are many in this country (both black and white ) that were born poor and still succeeded without becoming criminals. Life ain’t easy and it ain’t fair but many overcome adversity to at least not be a burden on society. Stop the excuses and go make something of yourself.
You can’t hide the past. Should be reminders so we can all strive together to make a better society. Americans are becoming too weak and will stand for anything as long as it doesn’t require any effort.
