Caving in to outcries that they represent the South’s racist past, Greg Fenves, the president of the University of Texas in Austin, announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from the campus’s Main Mall and moved to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was moved as well to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

When people continue to call certain things racist, are they not acting out of xenophobia? Shall we then also remove Martin Luther King’s monument because it could be deemed racist? Just how much is too much? A park in San Diego California has a statue of a Mexican historical figure, is it racist? We ought to be celebrating the diversity that makes this a great nation. This diversity includes people of all colors and creeds and nationalities and historical backgrounds.
