Caving in to outcries that they represent the South’s racist past, Greg Fenves, the president of the University of Texas in Austin, announced on Thursday that the statue of Jefferson Davis will be removed from the campus’s Main Mall and moved to the school’s Dolph Briscoe Center for American History.
The statue of Woodrow Wilson was moved as well to “maintain symmetry on the mall.”

Slavery is still rampant in the world today, irregardless or race, color or religion. No country on earth is free from some sort of an astrocity, but thankfully today a lot of countries have moved on with civil rights, liberties, laws and constitutions. History cannot be removed or forgotten, but should be studied and taken into consideration the struggles, the loss, the pain of all people, keeping in context that many generations later there cant be finger pointing and blame laying. A great nation from that historic period, rose from the ashes. Just my canadian opinion who has great respect and admiration of my southern neighbor, my grandfathers relatives served in$#%&!@*germany, and his canadian family served in our canadian army. To be racist you have to do the same bad thing to every one of that race and only that race. Color is not a race. There are many color’s with in one race. African is not a race if you go by color there is white, lite brown dark brown and many other color’s of Africans. Just like there are a lot of race’s that make up white people, brown people. Don’t know were the hell they came up with skin color as a race. The first slaves was white still today their is white slaves. What race is white? What race is black? What race is brown? Now what is racist is to think there is racist when really it affected all races and you are saying it only affected your’s.
What is the point, it’s HISTORY. There is nothing racist about a stupid statue unless you’re just looking for a woe is me excuse. You should be glad to be able to look at those statutes and remember history so as not to repeat it. What happened, happened, nothing you do now is going to change that. You can’t control History but you can control how you deal with and learn from it. Both sides.
