The notion of using A.I. systems to monitor, analyze, predict and control troops may seem like science fiction, but modern A.I. is used in all facets of modern life, from consumer parcel delivery to online search engines. The difference between those systems and putting a computer in charge of a multi-billion-dollar military aparatus deployed on domestic soil is what is alarming. If a FedEx computer makes a mistake, a parcel might be delivered late or to the wrong address.
What will the consequences be when a military A.I. system designed to “master the human domain” encounters an error?
