Ivanka Trump traveled to the Middle East as an ambassadorial representative on behalf of women business owners all over the planet, along with an attache of important information about the World Bank’s newest mission. This latest endeavor by the World Bank was cobbled together by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Ivanka in an stated effort to spread the entrepreneurial muse to all women around the globe. If the muse is being supplied by Socialists in the mold of Merkel, however, we might as well drown the inspired spirit in the Rheine River, along with German identity.
With Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates pouring $100M in funding into the World Bank’s Women Entrepreneurs Fund, its creators believe that the abilities of women business owners to shape the future of entrepreneurialism in areas of historically stunted female involvement will be turned around and find a new foothold. But with a burgeoning expansion of sharia law in and around even the mostly Sunni nations, the chances of this “spirit” taking hold is nearly non-existent. Envisioning a rise of new ideas and bold vistas not reached by women worldwide is a lofty goal and one that may be completely out of reach here in a region where women are still referred to as property.
ABC News reported that World Bank president Jim Yong Kim announced the countries’ pledge at a Sunday event on women’s economic empowerment with Ivanka.
At the event, Ivanka praised Saudi Arabia for making “progress as a nation towards empowering women,” but she added that “there’s still a lot of work to be done.”
“Saudi Arabia’s progress, especially in recent years, is very encouraging but there’s still a lot of work to be done and freedoms and opportunities to continue to fight for,” she said. “The stories of Saudi women, such as yourselves, catalyzing change, inspire me to believe in the possibility of global women’s empowerment.”The Islamic nation prohibits women from driving and requires that women get permission from a man to travel in public. It also imposes strict segregation of the sexes and requires that women cover themselves in public.
