Iron workers Stand Their Ground After Being Told ‘Lose The American Flag or Lose Your Job’

What would you do if you arrived at your workplace and were told that you could no longer demonstrate your love of country by flying the America flag? Would you take a stand and loose your job or slink away and compliantly heed the demand?

Crews at the CF Industries fertilizer plant where told to choose their job over their right to fly their American flags.  They chose Old Glory.

Each day, the men would arrive in their work trucks, many decked out with the American flag waving proudly in their beds.  But for some reason, CF Industry decided to disallow this form of patriotism and demanded the flags be removed.

“If you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything,” Hatch told BizPac Review. “We are absolutely prepared to lose our jobs to defend the flag, even though what we are doing is nothing compared to (the military) who defend it.”

The men, who are subcontractors for , said they’ve been on the job for months with the flags on their vehicles and no one ever asked for them to be removed until yesterday.

The Facebook posts of many of the crew demonstrate the rage that they felt and the plan to stand for the flag.

One rigger, Trever Lewis posted, “Was just informed if we show up tomorrow with our AMERICAN FLAGS flying from our trucks we will be terminated from cf industries in Donaldsville.  Needless to say they’ll  be losing a rigging crew in the morning. If you can’t stand for something. You’ll fall for nothing.”

Hatch told BPR that he and his crew are humbled by all the support they’ve received since they posted about the ultimatum on social media.

“Industrial Piping Incorporated has our back in this,” he said. “Other crews have taped American flags to their hardhats too.”
