The Trump administration seems to be wasting no time getting its financials in order. Just a few weeks into Donald Trump’s term, Trump tweeted that the debt had been lowered by $60 billion. Reports are also circulating that Trump’s first budget will oversee the largest reduction of the federal workforce since WWII.
So we know how Trump plans to save money. But how will he make it?
He certainly doesn’t seem to be willing to raise taxes very much. While he has suggested that he might be okay with a small tax increase on the rich, most of the government’s extra income seems contingent on a growing economy, not higher tax rates.
But that’s not their only plan.
The Trump Administration also seems to be eyeing unpaid debts held by foreign governments — some going back half a century.
Read about how the U.S. is demanding repayment for Cambodian bombings on the next page:
And if where asked to.pay up the debt we owe to other countries.
So, saving their lives, not to mention our soldiers’ loss of life, doesn’t matter?
Good!! Let’s go all the way back and collect all of the debt that’s owed this country!!
I disagree, when you do something for someone AT LEAST they owe you a debt of gratitude! At least!
Don’t agree on this “old” stuff, but going forward there MUST be compensation – AS IT HAPPENS. None of this having to come back 50 years later.
How is dropping bombs on them saving their lives?
It says right in the article that we dropped $X dollars worth of bombs on them, and that’s what we are seeking repayment for. I’m sorry, it doesn’t work that way.
Nathan Eddy, you are drunk on the kool aid!!
Harry Conkle, just the opposite. Rupert Murdock and his sons are as lefty as they get. He was trying to hedge his bets by having a group of conservatives head his shows. Since just before the election, he’s gotten rid of two of the best ones, being Greta Van Sustern, and Bill O’Reilly. His low life, gutter tactics, are despicable, and leave him open to wrongful dismissal. Nothing has been proven against either of them. They get these$#%&!@*to make unsubstantiated accusations, and fire them.
These debts should have been collected long ago … better late than never
