Proponents of the minimum wage often cite it as a tool to uplift people from poverty. While most of these people have good intentions, their economic ignorance crushes economies in some places.
Influenced by the idiotic idea that the state can lift people out of economic turmoil, many states and cities are enacting laws that increase the minimum wage for their area. Seattle is one of these places.
Supporters of the new minimum wage expected it to give the support needed for the poor to lift themselves out of poverty and no longer use the state’s services helping them.
What actually happened will shock you.
Move to the next page:

So if it cost the company more to employ, who pays the cost? The consumer. In 1994 the minimum wage was $3.49, a value meal at McDonald’s was $2.99, a gallon of milk was $1.99, and a gallon of gas was, .89 cents. Every year the minimum wage increases, the prices of every thing you pay for goes up. Housing costs, in turn, people can’t afford it so the use subsidized housing. Food costs go up because the company that had the minimum wage pay increase, well the $ comes from some where. The consumers pay. There’s proof in history. While I have learned a craft that pays well, my taxes are increasing, my health insurance premiums have increased the value of the insurance has decreased. You see, social economics isn’t a course on school, it’s life. The more I make the more you pay, period.
Really?
Give lazy the opportunity I be lazy and make the same amount of money…:what did you idiots expect?
It will not matter. Seattle bleeds the state dry financially anyway. Whatever they want, they get.
Nothing has happened it’s not even $12 yet the $15 is over a 3 yr timespan
what disaster? …you mean the one where workers can afford to eat …AND pay their bills ?
Leave it to the Dumocrats , down goes Seattle
economists ..gotta love um.. try opening a smallbusiness where your parents weren’t related to the rockafellers
Duh
“Proponents of the minimum wage often cite it as a tool to uplift people from poverty.” Maybe that is what they want us to think. really they know better and as it puts more on unemployment, it puts more under the government control.
