The Orlando jihadist worked for a company called G4S Secure Solutions, USA, Inc. for over five years. This firm is contracted with Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Their brochure says that they provide manpower solutions for government services. “The firm is called G4S and claims to be the world’s leading security solutions group with operations in more than 100 countries and 610,000 employees.”
How does a man like Omar Mateen, who was under FBI surveillance, continue to hold a job with a company that claims their security officers are “subject to a stringent background investigation”? This investigation supposedly covers criminal screening and background along with psychological screening. Yet Mateen worked there, in spite of the ongoing FBI investigation for terrorism ties dating to at least 2013.
There is no conclusive information as to what type of security clearances, federal or otherwise, that Mateen had with G4S, however he did guard and transport juvenile prisoners in Florida, even though there were reports that he praised the virtues of ISIS to co-workers
