When the Consular compound in Banghazi, Libya was attacked by Islamic terrorists in 2012 just prior to the presidential election, Clinton insisted that the attack was incited by an obscure anti-Muslim video broadcast on YouTube.
She neglected to mention her part in ignoring frequent pleas from the U.S. staff assigned to Benghazi for more security, and she seemed to be very caring and sympathetic to the family members who lost loved ones in the attack, again repeating the story line that the video was the cause of their loss and rejecting the idea that the attack was a pre-planned, organized butchery that had nothing to do with an internet broadcast.
However, when the Senate Benghazi investigative committee was able to access her private server, it was discovered that Clinton and the Obama administration knew within hours the true source of the attack, even though they also continued to tell the same story in order mislead the American public and protect Obama’s pre-election claim that Islamic terrorism was contained. But here is how Clinton explained her outrageous lies to the American public and the grieving families this weekend on “This Week.”
Hillary Clinton had told the Egyptian prime minister that “we know the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film,” prior to telling them (the public and the families) it was a YouTube video that caused the terror attack, Clinton said she did not lie to them but instead was caught up in “the fog of war.”
When confronted by video clips of family members of Benghazi victims, Clinton said, “I understand the continuing grief at the loss that parents experienced with the loss of these four brave Americans. I did testify as you know for 11 hours and I answered all of these questions. Now, I can’t — I can’t help it that people think there has to be something else there, I said very clearly, there had been a terrorist group that had taken responsibility on Facebook, between the time that I, you know, when I talked to my daughter, that was the latest information, we were giving it credibility, and then we learned the next day, it wasn’t true. In fact, they retracted it. This was a fast-moving series of events in the fog of war. I think most Americans understand.”
Hillary Clinton was not in battle, and we should all be concerned that she can be confused with the “fog of war” when a difficult situation arises. She told her daughter and the Egyptian prime minister (at least) within a day that Muslim militants has stormed the compound, and that it had nothing to do with the video. It was days later that she met with the families and lied to their faces, even as they grieved and sought understanding and sympathy. How anyone, even the most hardened, partisan Leftist can even think of lifting up such a heartless, dishonest, cold liar to the highest office of the land is completely beyond rational belief. Her ability to say and do what she does without the least hesitation is quite simply a demonstration of unmitigated, heartless evil.
