“I am running for President to protect our families and our communities from the plague of gun violence,” Hillary told the crowd in Virginia. “It is heartbreaking and infuriating that we lose an average of 90 American’s every day… it’s not just an urban problem…” She goes on to lists various places that have tragically had gun violence, but not once condemns the man pulling the trigger.
As in typical leftist fashion, she condemns the very thing that keeps her safe, the guns that follow her around the country, but the average American cannot have them, as there is a plague.

No it has not. Gun violence has been going down since 1993. We are currently at the same levels of homicides, gun homicides and gun violence that we had in the 1960’s.
Nation wide we continue to have a problem with inner city gangs and drug trafficking gangs. While they represent a very small portion of the population they do an immense amount of damage.
Nate Silver wrote a blog about the statistics behind homicides for the years 2010 to 2012. He found for those years we had a national average of 5.2 homicides per 100k people. Among whites there were 2.5 homicides per 100k whites. Among blacks there were 19.1 homicides per 100k blacks. In more than 85% of all homicides the murderer and the victim were the same race.
Now if we look at the frequency of people not being violent criminals, the difference between the rate in whites and blacks is negligible, way less than 1%. The vast majority of the population both white and black are not involved in violent crime, except they are sometimes the victim of it.
